Cena pins the Miz clean to win his 10th WWE Championship. R-Truth gets involved and attacks John Morrison during the match to extend their ongoing feud.

Ladder Match for the World Heavyweight Title
Christian vs. Alberto Del Rio

Christian climbs the ladder and wins his first Heavyweight Title with his pal Edge out to celebrate with him. Edge blows a horn on a car to distract Del Rio, who has now lost back to back Title matches on PPV.

Last Man Standing Match
CM Punk vs. Randy Orton

Opener of the night that kind of dragged on, as Orton finally wins after taking a long beating by Punk, just like at WM 26. Orton wins with a RKO from the top rope and Punk is unable to answer the 10 count.

Falls Count Anywhere Match
Cody Rhodes vs. Rey Mysterio

Match as one could have guessed went all over the arena, and in the end Mysterio gets the clean pin on Rhodes after he lost clean at Mania.

Country Whipping Match
Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler vs. Michael Cole and Jack Swagger

Cole rolls up and pins Ross for the win in a match that again had the comedy aspect of the night. Ross went into the match with a broken hand, and mostly whipped on Cole and Swagger. Sure this isn't the end of this never ending feud.

No DQ, No Countout, Loser Must Leave SmackDown
Layla vs. Michelle McCool

Layla says to fellow divas that she's sorry for her actions, and then goes out in a pretty good diva match and pins McCool clean. McCool then gets attacked in the live debut of Kharma, formerly known as Awesome Kong.

U.S. Championship Match (Tables Match)
Kofi Kingston vs. Sheamus

Kingston goes over clean to top Sheamus and win the US Title, this after losing the IC Belt to Wade Barrett close to WM 27. Good match that was thrown in at the last minute by Teddy Long.

WWE Tag Team Championship Lumberjack Match
Big Show & Kane def. Wade Barrett & Ezekiel Jackson

Show and Kane go over clean to keep the WWE straps. The Corre continues to have major issues, and Jackson and Barrett don't get along at the end of the match after Show and Kane won. May be the beginning of the end of the faction.

Thoughts on the Night: Better to above average PPV. Christian and Del Rio the best match, while the main with Cena winning the belt was somewhat of a letdown. Big pop for the debut of Kharma, and the Ross/Lawler/Cole feud is just getting worse and worse at this point. Company will rush to put together a PPV three weeks from now, with Miz and Cena going at it again, and likely Morrison and R-Truth, and yet another Cole-Lawler match of some sort. You'll also get another Del Rio and Christian, and it could also include a third party to change things up.

Best Match: Christian vs Albert Del Rio

Worst Match: Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler vs. Michael Cole and Jack Swagger

Biggest Pop: Christian Winning the belt

As part of Kmart’s new, exclusive sponsorship of WWE, Intercontinental Wrestling Champion, Kofi Kingston will make an appearance at a Tampa Kmart store.

Hailing from West Africa, Kingston brings unique in-ring abilities and style to the WWE®. A fan favorite, Kingston maintains his bright, amiable smile while destroying his opponents with high-flying, high-impact offense.

Kingston made an immediate impact on the WWE® upon his arrival in 2008, first wining the Intercontinental Championship from Chris Jehrico, then becoming World Tag Team Champion with CM Punk and then capturing the United States Championship.

Consumers and members of the media are invited to the in-store appearance to learn more about Kmart’s sponsorship of WWE. Media are welcome to shoot footage, take photos, and interview Kingston and/or Kmart executives about the new partnership.


WWE and Kmart recently announced that Kmart will be the exclusive presenting sponsor of all WWE’s U.S. live events throughout 2011. As part of the partnership, WWE is providing in-store appearances by WWE Superstars and Divas.


The signing will be Thursday, March 10th at the Kmart Store at 2915 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL 33607 from 6 to 8pm.

WWE had a DVD planned for Kofi Kingston titled "Boom, Boom, Boom" but it was cut down to a one-hour pay-per-view special that aired a few months ago. The project was recently listed by the British Board of Film Classification, reports WWEDVDNews. It's possible the Kofi project will be released soon as a WWE bonus disc of some kind.

WWE’s European video distributor Silvervision has released details and a content listing for WWE’s upcoming DVD set on professional wrestling’s greatest aerialists, Wrestling Highest Flyers. The DVD set notably features several WWE, WCW and ECW matches not previously released on video.

Among those featured on the DVD’s artwork are Rey Mysterio, Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne. To view its cover, click here.

Here's the Baltimore Sun's Over the Limit Preview

WWE champion John Cena vs. Batista in an I Quit match: Unless WWE is planning a swerve of monumental proportions, this one looks like a no-brainer. Beyond the fact that this very well could be Batista’s last match in WWE for a while, hearing Cena utter the words “I quit” is just inconceivable. The wild card here is Sheamus. He has had a presence throughout the build for this match, so it’s likely that he’ll get involved tonight. I expect Cena to score a decisive win in the final chapter of this feud, and then go on to defend the title against Sheamus, Edge and Randy Orton at next month’s Fatal Fourway pay-per-view.

World heavyweight champion Jack Swagger vs. The Big Show: At this stage of his career, Big Show doesn’t cut it as a world champion, so look for Swagger to leave the ring with his reign intact. Another possible scenario is that Big Show wins the title and then drops it back to Swagger in a rematch on Smackdown this week. Either way, it will be interesting to see what kind of match these two can put together.

Edge vs. Randy Orton: The first match of this program between two of WWE’s top superstars could go either way, but I have a feeling that Orton is coming out on top in this one. This figures to be an excellent match.

CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio: On a card that appears strong on paper, this match has potential to be the show-stealer. Because of the stipulations – Punk gets his head shaved if he loses, and Mysterio has to join the Straight Edge Society if he loses – this is the most compelling match on the show, in my opinion. At one point I was sure that Punk was going to end up bald – which could actually add a new level of creepiness to his character – but I now think that Punk will prevail thanks to another assist from the mysterious masked man (who most likely will be revealed as Joey Mercury). Instead of Mysterio joining the SES, however, I could see Punk and his followers attacking and injuring him, which would give Mysterio a story line reason to take some time off and get the knee surgery he has been putting off for months.

Intercontinental champion Drew McIntyre vs. Kofi Kingston: WWE has done a good job of getting heat on McIntyre over the past few weeks and also putting over the prestige of the title. It’s too soon for McIntyre to get his comeuppance, so look for him to cheat his way to a victory.

WWE unified tag team champions The Hart Dynasty vs. Chris Jericho and The Miz: The whole reason Raw’s Jericho and Miz formed a team was so they could win the championship and appear on Smackdown to exact revenge on Big Show for knocking them both out. I think that’s how it’s going to play out. Plus, there’s a lot of entertainment value in a Jericho/Miz partnership.

WWE Divas champion Eve vs. Maryse: It looks as if WWE is getting behind Eve as one of the centerpieces of the women’s division, so I expect her to win.

Ted DiBiase Jr. vs. R-Truth: I think the key to this match is Virgil. Wait, did I really just write that in 2010? Anyway, I believe the DiBiase/Virgil alliance is going to be extremely short-lived. Virgil, recalling how much of a spoiled brat Junior DiBiase was as a kid during his years working for Ted Sr., turns on him and helps R-Truth win the match. And DiBiase’s search for the “new Virgil” continues.

- WWE filmed a commercial yesterday that will air on SyFy this Summer to start hyping the network debut of Friday Night SmackDown in October.

A few of the names appearing in the commercial included Cody Rhodes, World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston and Rey Mysterio.

Kofi and Rhodes are currently on the RAW brand so it looks like they might get drafted tomorrow night. This could also mean that Swagger and Mysterio will be staying on SmackDown.

These commercials were put together yesterday but WWE has filmed commercials to hype Superstars before, such as Evan Bourne with the ECW Title last year, then changed the plans and shot new material.

WWE Intercontinental Champion Drew McIntyre became the ninth participant for this year’s WrestleMania Money in the Bank match on tonight’s SmackDown after defeating local independent wrestler Aaron Bolo.

The line-up for Money in the Bank now looks like this: Evan Bourne, Christian, Kane, Matt Hardy, MVP, Shelton Benjamin, Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre.

The tenth and final Money in the Bank participant will be determined on this week’s RAW. It’s believed that Kofi Kingston will earn the final spot.

According to Dave Meltzer, Randy Orton’s frustration with Kofi Kingston during their match on RAW was legitimate. Orton felt that Kingston should not have sold Ted DiBiase’s forearm.

Orton was seen on-camera shouting “stupid”, among other obscenities, at Kingston when Orton covered Kingston during the match. Orton was visibily upset when he got to the backstage area.

The same type of event occurred during a match with Mr. Kennedy last year, which lead to Kennedy’s release. However, nothing major is expected to happen to Kofi Kingston.

The Wrestling Observer reports that WWE has given up on Jack Swagger's push as he has not quite panned out as officials had thought he would.

Part of why WWE is pushing Kofi Kingston to the top if because they feel they need another African-American babyface star and they had given up on several other stars that were picked for the spot.

The other two stars who WWE have the most faith in right now are Sheamus, who is a workout partner of Triple H, and Drew McIntyre, who Triple H and Shawn Michaels have endorsed.

Jim Ross has a new blog on jrsbarbq.com. Here are some of the highlights:

- WWE’s TV people hit home runs with their new music, graphics packages, and the overall “look” of the show on HD.

- I like the short, smaller set as WWE used the short, live event entrance for the show instead of the long ramp entrance which kills a bunch of seats. Over 20,000 fans were in the Garden Monday night of which we heard on multiple occasions. We may have heard it with such regularity that I thought we might might be the audio daily double at the end of the night. Seriously, that was a huge crowd and an accomplishment for any event. I don’t know but I assume that that short entrance way was for MSG or other similar arenas and that the traditional entrance will be used next week but that’s an assumption.

- I think we are approaching a non productive trend in the business as it relates to the announcing. We are all guilty, me too, of doing too much hyperbole, talking about too many things that are not related to a bout. In other words sell, sell, sell. “The most historic, most anticipated, most watched, most longest running, most amazing main event, most..most ..most.” This isn’t a knock on my fellow announcers as I have been just as guilty, if not more, but after being home for several weeks and hearing a bunch of wrestling on TV it begins to become noticeable and not in a good way.

- Kofi Kingston can look back on this night in MSG as perhaps the night he stepped up and touched the next level. I thought Kofi and Randy Orton’s physical interaction was the wrestling highlight of the show. That was some big time stuff from two young, talented competitors.

The working idea this past week was to have a Team Kofi vs. Team Orton match under traditional Survivor Series rules at the Survivor Series pay-per-view later this month. The teams would be Kofi Kingston, MVP, Mark Henry and a partner vs. Randy Orton, Ted DiBiase, Cody Rhodes and a partner.

A rumor going around was that the SmackDown creative team had been planning a Team Batista vs. Team Mysterio match also.

For those wondering, Floyd Mayweather Jr’s legal issues surrounding a shooting did indeed cause him to arrive late at the building for RAW last week. A WWE source says that company officials handled him “with kid gloves” and noted Mayweather was noticeably, but understandably, distracted.

His delayed arrival caused a lot of last minute re-writes by the RAW creative team and they had to bring him up to speed on what he’d be doing on the show. One source says that Vince’s birthday celebration was moved to the opening segment because Mayweather wasn’t ready to go yet. In a show of just how chaotic things were backstage, during the broadcast Michael Cole plugged a Kofi Kingston match for later in the evening which never took place.

In an interview with SLAM! Wrestling, Kofi Kingston discusses being left off this Sunday's SummerSlam pay-per-view in Los Angeles.

"It's bittersweet," Kingston said in interview this past Wednesday. "I would definitely love to be on the card and be involved, but as of now, I'm not."

Despite being left off the card, the United States Champion says he "wouldn't miss it for the world."

Kofi Kingston explained how he went from working in a corporate office to wrestling for WWE during an interview with the UK Sun. “About three years ago I was working in a cubicle in corporate environment, knowing in my heart that it wasn’t really what I wanted to do. I was only doing it because everybody else was doing it. Then one day I decided to follow my dream instead.

“I started wrestling on the independent scene and they held a WWE tryout at my wrestling school with lots of the agents. I did very well and a few days later they called me and offered me a developmental deal in Deep South Wrestling in Atlanta – where I started just two weeks after getting the call.” To read the rest of the story, visit the thesun.co.uk.

Mark Henry made the most of his first appearance as the new ECW Champion on ECW on Sci Fi, referring to himself as the "savior of ECW," before being interrupted by a former ECW Champion - Tommy Dreamer.

Alongside Colin Delaney, Dreamer challenged Henry for the gold, but the World's Strongest Man had other ideas, defeating Delaney in a one-on-one match, preventing Dreamer from earning his opportunity.

What is next for Tommy Dreamer as he looks to regain the title he once held? Will Mark Henry's hold on the gold be short-lived?

And what about WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz & John Morrison? At Night of Champions, the duo was able to defeat Finlay & Hornswoggle to retain their gold, but the Irishman and his son teamed with United States Champion Matt Hardy in a Six-Man Tag Team Match and defeated the champs and Chavo Guerrero. Will Miz & Morrison be able to keep the gold as Finlay & Hornswoggle continue to give chase? Will Chavo Guerrero's sudden rivalry with Matt Hardy keep moving forward or will someone else in the Land of the Extreme step up and make a play at the gold?

ECW's newest Superstar, Atlas Ortiz, defeated Armando Estrada in his debut match, hoping to make a splash on Tuesday nights. After the success of former ECW Superstar, and current Intercontinental Champion, Raw's Kofi Kingston, can Atlas carve a name for himself in ECW?
