X-Pac Checks Out Of Rehab; Talking With WWE

From: LordsofPain.net

Sean "X-Pac" Waltman's three month stay in a treatment facility in Houston has come to an end as he checked out of it earlier today, reports prowrestling.NET. In a phone conversation last night, Waltman said he was in a "great place mentally" and feels "it's time to take the next step." Waltman was supposed to get out of the facility last month, but decided to stay a few more weeks to get additional care. Waltman will continue to take part in an outpatient program with World Wrestling Entertainment covering all of the expenses. Waltman stated in the phone conversation last night that he has spoken with Triple H about landing a behind the scenes role with WWE. Waltman also thanked WWE and Vince McMahon for their help, as well as TNA wrestler Kevin Nash, who went out of his way to pick up Waltman up from his residence in Mexico and escort him to the treatment facility. Waltman's first advertised wrestling appearance is on June 7 for an NWA event, and he is currently accepting additional wrestling bookings.

John Cena Gives an Interesting Interview to The Sun in the UK

THE last time SunSport spoke to John Cena it was very controversial.

First he told us injury and movie commitments would mean he was away from our screens for months – before returning less than a week later.

Then he criticised The Rock for turning his back on a business he claimed he loved, fuelling a debate that went around the globe and led to Rocky getting his own back at the WWE Hall Of Fame.

Now, catching up with Cena again, the world’s most prominent wrestler expands on what he told us and the fallout from it.

He also reveals his frustration with making movies, disappointment at Ric Flair’s shortened HOF speech and views on this weekend’s huge WWE Judgment Day PPV.

Hi John. What happened after our last interview? You told fans you’d be away until after WrestleMania, then days later we all watched you winning the Royal Rumble.

Well I was shooting a movie, so I wasn’t kidding about that. And I thought I wouldn’t get medical clearance.

But my rehab was going very well, and very quickly, so I decided to ask my doctors and specialists if it was possible for me to return for the Rumble.

They said: 'Yes, your pectoral muscle should hold up but you also run the risk of tearing it back open and having us re-do the work.'

The four months I’d been out had already been way too long for me to be away from the ring, so I said: 'To hell with it. Let’s give it a try.'

Then I called Vince and told him what I just told you and that I’d be ready whenever he needed me.

He said: 'What do you think about the Rumble?'

I replied: 'Are you kidding me? Let’s go!'

Hello Mike, Are You There

Really don't know if this is such a bad thing, but did Mike Adamle really do anything tonight. As the play by play man he was non existent and added nothing to the call of the matches. Isn't his job to describe the action in the ring? Instead Taz was left to add commentary on the wrestlers on top of his color duties. Yes we were spared Adamle's lack of knowledge on wrestling and did not have to hear him flub to many calls, but if he is going to be your play by play man he should have to do play by play. This is just another example of a pet project of the WWE and Vince McMahon that we have to suffer through. Don't we suffer enough on the matches alone for ECW. Either bring back Joey Styles or find someone else to due the play by play. What about a duo of ECW originals in Taz and Tommy Dreamer. I don't even care if they call the matches in a traditional style, just put these two together and their experiences in the ring alone will give them plenty to talk about that will entertain fans. Either get Admale up to speed or kill this experiment soon as he clearly is not pulling his weight.

The only real matches of significance tonight were the previews for the tag match at Judgement Day. We saw the Miz face CM Punk and John Morison take on Kane in singles action. Both matches were decent and it should be an alrigth match at Judgement Day. But why are they not having the champs take on a team they already have a history with in Jimmy Wang Yang and Shannon Moore. This would be a far superior match as both teams can showcase their high flying moves. But instead we have the champs against Kane and Punk. One thing out of the matches tonight was the Miz establishing himself as a legitimate wrestler. He looked very good tonight up against Punk and give this guy some credit. He has worked really hard to show he is more than a Reality TV star and deserves a place in the WWE. It should be interesting to see what the WWE plans for him. I feel a good year on his own in ECW, perhaps as champ, would serve him well before he would move back to either Smack Down or Raw. Also to add heat for the match on Sunday Both Miz and Morrison won their individual matches culminating in a after the bell beating of Kane and Punk after Morrison took Kane out with the tag belt.

Other action saw a six diva tag match with Cherry, Kelly Kelly and Michelle McCool beating Victoria, Layla and Natlia. Cheery got the pin and they are really pushing her big time. My question is why? She really brings nothing to the table and on the looks front, she is far behind most of the Divas. By nest year we won't even remember who she is. Speaking of people we will forget by next year, Colin Delaney again lost to Mike Knox and them GM Astrada. Please let this story line end as it has never been interesting.

Foley Reality Project Shot Down

From Wrestling Observer

Mick Foley was in talks with cable channel A & E about doing a reality show based on his family. It was going to be a middle class version of Hogan Knows Best if you will. However, A & E executives turned the project down because the feeling was that there wasn't much conflict within the Foley household. Foley also had a developmental deal for a TV show with CBS, but nothing materialized there either.

ECW Preview from WWE.com

After picking up a historic win on ECW’s 100th Episode, Colin Delaney will at long last sign a contract to become the Land of the Extreme’s newest Superstar on the next ECW on SciFi. The persistence and passion has finally paid off for Delaney whose dreams came true after defeating General Manager Armando Estrada. But will the youngster with a small stature, but a big heart, have what it takes to be a success in ECW? How will Delaney match up to his fellow Extreme Superstars? And what will Estrada have in store for Delaney?

ECW Champion Kane joined forces with CM Punk to defeat Chavo Guerrero & Bam Neely in tag team action. Mr. Money in the Bank delivered a devastating G.T.S. to Guerrero for the win as WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz & John Morrison looked on. The Big Red Machine and the Straightedge Superstar are an Extreme force when paired together – how will these two Superstars leave their mark in the Land of the Extreme? And when will Punk cash in his Money in the Bank privileges?

Kofi Kingston remains undefeated in ECW action after defeating Matt Striker on Tuesday as Shelton Benjamin offered guest commentary. But after defeating “Your Teacher," Benjamin stormed into the ring to attack Kingston, leaving him face-down on the mat. Has Kingston finally met his match? Will the “Gold Standard” be able to stop the Jamaican Superstar’s winning streak?

Finally, Mick Foley will also make his return to ECW and Matt Striker’s Classroom next week. What will transpire between the Hardcore Legend and “Your Teacher”? What does the SmackDown color commentator have in store for the Land of the Extreme?

To find out the answers to these questions and more, tune into Tuesday’s ECW on Sci Fi at 10/9 CT.

FLASHBACK: One Year Ago today on Let's Wrestle - Week of WWE Television Already Gaining Steam

With one week till Judgement Day in St.Louis, some things are shaping up for the week ahead on WWE TV. First we already have learned via the WWE.com site that Bobby Lashley will take on Jonathan Coachman on tomorrown night's edition of RAW. This match will likely be an ugly squash, but on the other hand, I can see some big time outside interference from Mr.McMahon, Umaga and Shane-O-Mac giving a preview for Sunday's show.

Also reports say that the official announcment will be made tomorrow night for a match we all could see coming for next Sunday - Carlito vs Ric Flair. Last week Flair was not on the show, but he will be tomorrow night, and the two will have a staredown of sorts that will end with the match becoming official.

I would guess that we will also see some sort of showdown between Khali and John Cena, setting up their match next week. I can't wait to see how these two co-exist, as I think that they still need some major work to be done to be able to sell it for fans next Sunday. I see a train wreck coming for this match.

Then we also will have a "good-bye" for Edge from RAW, as now as the World Heavyweight Champion, he is going over to SmackDown, where he will defend the title next Sunday vs Batista. I would think it would be just what it is - a good-bye, and then I wouldn't eb shocked if we see Batista show up for a little beatdown to give their match some steam for Sunday at the PPV.

Lies, Deceit and Bad Song

Tonight's Raw was a mixture of deception and a bad version of American Idol. Both Trevor Murdoch and Lilian Gracia tortured our ears with renditions of Kenny Rogers and Aretha Franklin respectively. Luckily both were cut short so we could concentrate on the wrestling. Bad karaoke aside, we also saw some betrayals tonight that were featured in almost every match.

Murdoch and his partner Lance Cade were back in the win column tonight over Cryme Tyme. The Rogers song was part of the post match celebration, but Cade would attack his partner out of nowhere. There has been talks of Cade going on his own and it looks like it is starting. I think Cade will do well as a heel and could find himself as one of the top mid carders on Raw. As far as Murdoch, he may struggle and find himself a regular fixture on Heat, perhaps in many memorable matches against Hacksaw Jim Duggan.

Beth Phoenix would also turn on Melina during their tag match against Maria and Mickie James. After costing Beth the title with a boot to the head, Melina would find herself all alone in the ring. This stemmed from Melina running into Beth while she was on the apron. Beth would leave the ring and this lead to a pin by Mickie James. Later in the locker room Beth would attack Melina and threw her into some lockers thus ending their partnership.

HBK tonight ended all the speculation about his knee injury. Jericho was apologizing for not believing him, but HBK came out and told Jericho he was faking. Jericho still was not buying it until he was super kicked in the head. This angle now added a little more heat to their match this Sunday, but it also puts Jericho in a neutral role. Instead of making him the heel by calling HBK a liar, he now saves some face by being tricked into believing in the injury.

Jeff Hardy returned tonight and was apologizing to the fans for his transgressions, but Regal would put a stop to it by sending Umaga into the ring for a match to punish Hardy for his sins. Hardy would walk out with the win and looked good after his lay off. This was a great match and I would like to see them continue this program a bit more, especially to allow Hardy to get back into the groove. It will be very interesting to see if Hardy returns to the status he was at before being suspended. The big question is will the WWE trust him enough to give him a major push again? Or will he be relegate to nothing more than an Intercontinental champ and nothing more.

The final betrayal of tonight was John Cena being lied to in his revenge match against Randy Orton. Regal promised no interference, especially by JBL under risk of suspension. Well JBL did not interfere, but he did make an appearance as a guest referee. This would lead to a 2 on 1 situation until Triple H ran to the ring. Cena and JBL disappeared into the crowd while Orton and Triple H went at it. And then it got lame as they lowered the steel cage on the two men. What a surprise, as it was hanging there all night and had not been used yet. They tried to pull it off on TV like it was a shock, but come on. You don't take the time to put it together and hang it above the ring for decoration. And really it didn't add much to the action n the ring so why do it in the first place.

In other action we saw Rhodes and Holly defend the tag belts against Carlito and Marella. Rowdy Roddy Piper was their again and Marella was busy running his mouth at him. This lead to the pin by Rhodes and Marella now threatening to find Piper and take him out. Why must Marella take on wrestlers who are no longer active. He first had his beef with Stone Cold and now Piper. It's great to see Piper again, but do we really need this angle to bring him back.

And in the match that really meant nothing Kennedy beat Snitsky. It looks like Snitsky is done as he has not been on TV much as of late. It's great to see all the promos they were running for him really paid off. They never really established anything for him so I'm not sure what the push was for. They should have left him on ECW to develop and do something there, instead he is now lost in the shuffle on Raw.

Update on Jeff Hardy's Backstage Attitude

From: WrestleAttitude

Jeff Hardy is said to be in better spirits after going through some hard times following the loss of his home in a fire. He is planning to clear the land where his trailer home stood and has been looking at blue prints for a new house he plans to build on the property. A well-placed source claims Hardy did not spend any time in a rehab facility after violating the Wellness Policy for a second time.

As far as wrestling goes, Hardy is said to be motivated and in good physical shape. Although he was an emotional wreck after the fire, friends say it ultimately woke him up and made him more appreciative of his career. A friend stressed that Hardy has shown signs of maturing and seems to recognize that he is responsible for most of his recent problems.

There's no word yet whether Jeff will return on RAW tonight. His 60-day suspension ended over the weekend so he could return at any time. In case you missed it yesterday, he is scheduled for the company's tour of Mexico, which begins on May 21.

Rumors of Coachman to ESPN Not True?

From: Lords of Pain.net

Internet reports stating that WWE announcer Jonathan Coachman had signed a contract to join ESPN appear to be unfounded. Dave Nagle, a representative of ESPN, issued the following statement to SLAM! Sports to put an end to the rumors: "all I can say is that these 'rumors' are untrue...we do not have a signed deal. There is nothing more to say." Rumors regarding Coachman's departure began soon after Mick Foley replaced Coachman as the SmackDown color commentator at the Backlash pay-per-view two weeks ago. Internet reports started circulating and they said that Coachman had signed a contract with ESPN for an anchor position.

RAW Preview from WWE.com

Preview:When Judgment comes
May 12, 2008

Judgment Day will be only six days away when Raw returns from north of the border this Monday night, and the Raw Superstars will have one last chance to gain momentum inside Detroit’s Joe Louis Arena.

One individual making his way to the Motor City for Raw is John Cena. Following last week's announcement that the Chain Gang Soldier will clash with JBL at Judgment Day, Cena may be on hand to mix some pre-match words (or fists) with the self-proclaimed "wrestling god."

Since tapping to Cena in the WWE Championship Fatal Four Way Match at Backlash, JBL has taken out his aggression on the likes of Highlander Robbie and DH Smith. Will Cena's return to Raw this week be enough to keep the Longhorn Loudmouth from seeking another victim? Or might JBL want to make Cena that victim, mere days before Judgment Day?

Detroit may be Hockeytown, U.S.A., but this Monday, it could become Blackoutville. For two consecutive weeks, General Manager William Regal has pulled the plug; first, he took Raw off the air two weeks ago in the middle of a Triple H vs. Randy Orton WWE Title Match, and last week, he turned the lights out as Orton battled CM Punk in Toronto.

Regal has shown that he has no qualms about taking Raw off the air if he is disrespected, and WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon (statement). Will our fans in Detroit make it through the full two hours uninterrupted? If they don’t, will those in attendance at “The Joe” shower Regal with the signature squid usually reserved for celebrating a Red Wings hat trick?

Orton and Regal’s number one enemies, WWE Champion Triple H and Mr. Kennedy respectively, did make it through their match last week. Unfortunately, they lost, as Kennedy & The Game had to do battle against the entire ECW roster. To make matters worse for Triple H, he survived a wild post-match melee only to be flattened by an RKO from his Judgment Day opponent. On the way to their Steel Cage showdown, who will get the last laugh? And will Regal throw anything more at Kennedy in response to his besmirching several weeks ago?

Also last week in a WWE Mobile on AT&T exclusive video, a massive match was made for Judgment Day: Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels. The battle between Y2J and HBK has been heating up ever since Michaels’ win over Batista at Backlash. Jericho has accused the Showstopper of faking an injury to win that match; whether he is or he isn’t, HBK’s injury didn’t stop him from teaming with Y2J to defeat WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz & John Morrison last Monday night. With less than a week left before their pay-per-view battle, how will Jericho and Michaels finish their preparations?

Find out all this in more as the final Raw before Judgment Day comes to you live from Detroit, Monday at 9/8 CT on USA Network.

Vacant Storyline for the World Heavyweight Title Lame to Say the Least

Just wanted to share a quick word about Friday night's "Chase for the Championship" edition of Smackdown. While I thought it was an entertaining two hours of WWE TV, overall this angle with Undertaker being stripped of his belt is very lame to say the least. The angle simply was done to have yet another Edge vs Taker match at Judgement Day, even tough some seem to think that Batista and Big Show will be thrown in the mix.

If they are not, then this Edge vs Taker III is going to take a lot of the luster off of the World Heavyweight Title, if there is any shine left for that title. Taker worked hard to make it back from injury, go though the task of waiting his turn, and then finally taking the belt in a strong match vs Edge at WrestleMania. There is no shame in Edge having a set of rematches, it happens anytime a champ loses. But to use the famous "strip of the title" by an evil GM really annoys me, and makes this match less than appealing.

I have no issues whatsoever with a good Edge vs Taker match. They have had two good ones already, and likely will have another at the PPV a week from tonight. Throw a stip in there, and it can be memorable. Now though with this silly vacant title on the line, this match will come across as another weak storyline in the company when they should let have just let the reign of the Undertaker continue.

Hardy's Suspension Ends Today

From: Wrestling Observer

Jeff Hardy's suspension ends today. We don't have it confirmed he'll be at TV tomorrow, but he has been added to the Mexico tour next week which means unless they have an idea (like they did with Matt for Mania) to hold him off TV for a specific purpose, he'd be expected back either this Monday or next Monday.

DVD Review : QUICK SHOOTING WITH ALLISON DANGER

Reviewed By : Steve “Rockamaniac” Wilson of MainEventRadio.com

Strong Style Productions is the latest company to form and dive in to the wrestling DVD market. Their first release is “Quick Shooting With Allison Danger” , Which is a 2 disc, nearly 4 hour sit down shoot interview that is anything but “Quick” but rather intriguing at the same time.

For the non-mainstream fans reading this review, you might be asking who is Allison Danger and what makes her qualified to speak on the world of pro wrestling for nearly 4 hours? Well Allison Danger is one of the most talented and powerful female wrestlers out there today that is not under the WWE or TNA umbrella. Danger, alongside Dave Prazak run Shimmer Women Athletes, which is a all female independent wrestling company that has helped almost all of TNA’s and some of WWE’s female rosters rise to new levels in the world of professional wrestling. Danger has also been a regular in Ring Of Honour for years having best been known for managing Christopher Daniels in that promotion, And for those who still don’t know who she might be, perhaps her real name would help, that being Cathy Corino, which makes her the younger sister of former ECW star “The King Of Old School” Steve Corino, so to say the least her 8 years in and around the business has permitted her to see and experience a hell of a lot, and she gets a chance to take the knowledge she has gained and give her opinion on the wrestling business in this DVD.

Presented in a widescreen format, Quick Shooting With Allison Danger is visually impressive, it transitions flawlessly between topics, and generally the audio is very clear, although since it was recorded on different days and Danger wears different outfits, there is one period where the sound suffers, but getting to the actual content of the DVD, This is not your cookie cutter shoot interview, where you start from the person’s childhood and go through every aspect of someone’s career. Instead Danger is asked her opinions on a variety of topics including her thoughts on working for WWE or TNA, being a woman on either roster, her actual thoughts on every single woman on those rosters, bra and panties matches, women who take part in “custom wrestling video shoots” and what she thinks young girls who are looking to break into the business need to do. Danger also answers some more personal questions such as her experiences with promoters, whether she would sign on with the WWE or TNA, who in the wrestling world she has had a crush on since she was young girl and what she plans to do once her time is up in the business.

I must say that once you watch this DVD you’ll probably be surprised how smart to the business this woman really is, she has seen and lived through so much in the business that she has some uber interesting things to say. Can it sustain your attention for nearly 4 hours? That depends on what type of fan you are, if you only watch WWE, or TNA, or have never seen Shimmer, then there is a chunk of the DVD that will drag for you, Personally I have followed all 3, and thus knew everyone and everything she was speaking of making it highly appealing to me and time flew when watching it, so if you’re a fan of at least the two major feds, and or a Indy fan who follows Shimmer, ROH and the circuit that those stars follow then this DVD can be just as appealing to you.

“Quick Shooting With Allison Danger” is now available on DVD from Strong Style Productions. For more information you can check out the company’s website at strongstyleproductions.com and to read my previous DVD reviews check out www.maineventradio.com/reviews.htm

More Hints on Umaga Switching Brands

From WrestleAttitude:

Brian Bazinet pointed out an interesting statement made by Vince McMahon during WWE's 2008 shareholders meeting. When asked when Umaga would get a "big push", Vince replied: "In all likelihood, Umaga will switch brands shortly, and do as well as he possibly can"

So, it looks like Umaga might be heading to SmackDown (or possibly ECW) in the near future.

We broke the story here first right after WrestleMania 24 this year that WWE officials were very high on Umaga and had big plans for him. There was talk of pushing him with the Intercontinental Title on the RAW brand again, but then talks moved to him heading to the SmackDown brand to feud with The Undertaker over the World Heavyweight Title.

Jim Ross Shares His Thoughts in His Updated Blog

Jim Ross has posted a new blog entry on his website. Some highlights from this entry:

- Gasp….Floyd Mayweather did not actually get $20M for his fight at WM24 or so we have been told…the boxing media, always known to never "hype" an event is appalled, pray tell. I don’t know exactly what "Money" made for the fight, but I assure you he was pleased and who’s to say that the monies he negotiated won’t be flowing in for a while longer?

- I recently read where wrestling websites exist solely on the back of the WWE, which I find perplexing. I don’t necessarily agree with that assessment, but everyone has a right to their opinion. Without the WWE there is lots of other wrestling to cover globally, not to mention the ever growing mixed martial arts biz.

- I did not solely create the idea of the WWE Legends Video Game, but thru the Legend’s Program that I did help launch, the video game concept was an idea I floated around the WWE about 10 years ago. It was akin to always wondering what it would be like for, say, Roger Clemens pitching to Mickey Mantle in a baseball video game. Now wrestling fans will be able to book some amazing dream matches with many of the greats that will be featured on the Legends Video Game. Yes, some old timers won’t want to be a part of the process, but what can one do? Those veterans who want to help other old timers who did not plan for their future or drank their future away, etc would be well served to be a part of the video game and donate their earnings to those more needy, if that was there mindset. At least the Austin vs. Hogan match could be booked on the Legends Video Game.

- I can’t be sure why certain things jump into my mind, but this morning I thought about when I used to travel with Don "The Spoiler" Jardine, whose car was always immaculate and smelled so fresh, which was a contrast to the cigar stained, beer spill odors of so many other wrestlers. Don always had classical music on the radio, as well, and gave me a great education of what it took to be a great, wrestling villain. More people who have had long, productive careers in the wrestling business had one common denominator and that was that they worked the territories and were able to exchange ideas and philosophies on long car trips. It’s amazing what happens when one doesn’t have access to a cell phone, etc. A conversation actually takes place.

- I read where Kurt Angle has been having more neck problems, which gives me cause for genuine concern. Getting that "one more match" and then "another match" out of a flawed body is flirting with disaster. I have great respect for Kurt’s athletic ability and helped hire him in the WWE and I hope he doesn’t stick around as a wrestler for one match too many. Especially when he has so many other skills that have little to do with putting on a singlet and risking his long term health.

- For the record, I am not a fan of stripping any one of a title and feel that titles should be won and lost inside the ring. I know I am old school, I get reminded of that on a fairly regular basis, but that’s my story and I am sticking to it.
