Former WWE Ladies Star Luna Vachon Dead at 47

From: SLAM! Sports

Word is circulating quickly that Luna Vachon has died. She was 47.

According to family, she was at her mother's house and was found dead this morning.

The news comes just a short while after a house fire consumed her home and destroyed her wrestling memorabilia.

Gertrude Vachon -- "Trudy" to friends -- was one of the most colourful and eccentric woman wrestlers of all time.

"I taught my daughter Luna how to wrestle and also sent her to Moolah’s wrestling school. She patterned her wrestling style and personality after Mad Dog and I. Luna became one of the most famous and recognized lady wrestlers in wrestling history," wrote her father, Paul "The Butcher" Vachon in his second autobiography.

"As a student, she was very much interested, and very much involved in really, really wanting to do the thing. She had good hopes," said Lillian Ellison, the Fabulous Moolah, years back. It was Moolah that named her "Angel" for wrestling.

RAW GM None other than Triple H?

Rumors are circulating concerning the return of Triple H, and reports are the idea has been pitched to Vince McMahon to have him revealed to be Monday Night RAW's "anonymous" General Manager.

McMahon has been quoted as saying that he wants "The Game" back on television in order to further strengthen the roster heading into the fall season. As of late, McMahon has blamed WWE's previous lackluster quarter on the retirements of Dave Batista and Shawn Michaels, as well as Triple H's injuries that have kept him off of television.

MVP in the Doghouse, Praise for Swagger

SmackDown Superstar MVP was in the doghouse with WWE officials again before being put in the new feud with Jack Swagger. The only thing said about MVP’s recent heat is that it’s for the same reasons he’s been in and out of the doghouse for the past two years.

MVP is looking to reinvent himself and suggested doing a rapper gimmick to officials. MVP has even recorded a rap song to go with the gimmick.

Swagger, on the other hand, is getting high praise from WWE officials because the key people see him as a long-term Superstar. Swagger gets props on his great attitude, his size and athletic ability.

Details on the Release of Serena

While specific details surrounding Serena’s abrupt departure from WWE have yet to be disclosed, it said that she was let go in a disciplinary measure. The Pro Wrestling Torch cryptically notes that she was not “living out” her Straight Edge Society persona in public.

The decision to cut the six-time Ohio Valley Wrestling Women’s Champion was actually made a few days ago, but word had not surfaced until Monday night.

It would appear that an official announcement has not yet been made by WWE as she’s due to make an appearance on this week’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown, which was taped last Wednesday. She accompanies Luke Gallows to the ring for a match against Big Show.

Beckett Does a Piece on Daniel Bryan

Beckett.com has an article up looking at whether or not Daniel Bryan was really released from WWE earlier this year. Apparently Bryan’s new WWE Topps trading card wasn’t originally scheduled for the set of cards that just came out but was added in July some time to the production list.

The original checklist didn’t have Bryan listed but he is in the new set – card #68 in the 110-card set. The cards were printed between July 2nd and July 16th, well before the SummerSlam pay-per-view where WWE decided to bring Bryan back.

Things Looking Up for Rosa Mendes in Wake of Tiffany’s Legal Woes

WWE has released its line up for the company’s return to Madison Square Garden next month and there seems to be a silver lining in Tiffany’s recent legal woes for one Diva.

Rosa Mendes, in an apparent babyface turn, will team up with Kelly Kelly to take on Lay-Cool at MSG on September 26th.

I’m assuming that this is an updated line-up and the original spot was for Tiffany. I can’t see Rosa and Kelly teaming up randomly otherwise.

We’ll see if this also means a push for Rosa on TV when SmackDown tapes tonight in LA.

More Details on the Death of Lance Cade

World Wrestling Entertainment confirmed Friday the death of former performer Lance McNaught (a/k/a Lance Cade). His father, Harley McNaught, told WWE officials that his son — who had spoken publicly about his battles with pain killers and sleeping pills addictions — died of apparent heart failure.

He was 29 years old.

Regarding details of McNaught's passing, his wife Tanya noticed earlier in the week that he didn't look healthy and appeared to have trouble breathing. She called an ambulance Tuesday night and he was rushed to an area hospital.

McNaught passed out while at the hospital, but was later revived. He asked to be released Wednesday.

McNaught's father said Lance showed up to his work Thursday and did not appear well. Harley took him to his San Antonio home and was discovered having passed away Friday morning. He was scheduled to leave that day for a two-week tour of All Japan Pro Wrestling.

McNaught's wife believes he had not been drinking.

McNaught was under contract to WWE from March 2003 to October 2008. He returned to the organization's developmental promotion, Florida Championship Wrestling, in September 2009, and was released in April 2010 following a stint in rehab.

McNaught leaves behind two daughters and a stepson. More

Tiffany Suspended After Arrest after Real Fight with Hubby

More details have come to light over the suspension of WWE SmackDown Diva, Tiffany. The Wrestling Observer reports that the altercation between Tiffany — real name Taryn Terrell — and husband Drew Galloway (Drew McIntyre) took place on Saturday night, not Tuesday night as previously reported.

Additionally, it is confirmed that Tiffany was arrested. She is due to attend court for a hearing on September 2nd.

Read below:

What is known is that both performers attended a party Saturday night in Los Angeles together and went to their hotel room. The two had a loud argument which included both hotel security and police being called. The two had already booked separate rooms when the police arrived. Terrell was arrested that night and taken in to custody.

WWE officials were not aware of the incident until Monday, and she was suspended until further information came out. Her lawyers believe she will be cleared of all charges. Right now it is likely the suspension will remain until she is officially cleared. (Source: F4WOnline.com)

Black, 26, has been with Ring of Honor since 2007 and won the ROH championship in February 2010 from Austin Aries, He is also a former ROH Tag Team champion.

Black has several title defenses scheduled for September, including the 9/11 Glory by Honor Internet PPV, where he will defend against Roderick Strong.

Jericho Comments On Nexus vs. WWE, Nexus/nWo Comparison, and More

Chris Jericho was one of the special guests on this week’s live edition of Monday Night Mayhem. Here are some highlights from the interview.

Team WWE vs. The Nexus:
“This match is cool, because obviously they created a great angle using guys who have never had matches on TV before basically, which I don’t think has ever been done before, and to have such a talked about storyline. Seven guys who have proved nothing as far as being main-event draws, but it goes to show that when you have a good storyline, a good idea, and promote it the right way. I’m just excited about it, and I’m happy about the storyline leading up to it. I think people are really intrigued by the whole situation, and that’s the best thing you could do, and to me, that’s the most important thing has always been the story. The match is important, but it’s the story that gets you there.”

Wade Barrett:
“There really hasn’t been much growth…he was good from the moment that he appeared. You could see his presence & his promo ability right off the bat was tremendous, his whole look & ambiance, so he was a star right off the bat, and as soon as I was paired up with him, I knew I was with the winner, because he’s got it more than these other guys do. Work wise, we really haven’t seen much from him. Is he a great worker? Is he a good worker? Does he suck? I don’t know, I think he’s a good worker and has room for improvement, and that’s because he doesn’t have a lot of experience in WWE arenas. But he, by far, is the most talented of the group, the biggest star of the group. Whether they created Nexus or not, he would have been a great star in the WWE. The only thing we need to work on with him is his actual matches, because we haven’t gotten to see much, except for a couple of three-minute matches. But other than that, I think he’s the total package of what we are looking for in the WWE at this point.”

Comparing Nexus to nWo:
“There’s only so many ideas you could think of, and there’s only so much talent out there. The bottom line is there’s so many new guys on the shows nowadays, so you have to use that to your advantage, or you have to go back to your old faithful. I don’t see this being the NWO, because the NWO wasn’t like this. The NWO began with three guys that were all World Champions and big huge stars. So you have Hall, Nash, & Hogan who everyone had known & seen before, and that was part of the shock. The Nexus, we don’t know any of these guys or seen any of them before. They have never drawn a dime anywhere, and that’s the difference. This pack that are working as a well-oiled machine that’s done nothing before…that’s the real surprise. As far as what TNA is doing with ECW, why not?

Hulk Comments on His Ex-Wifes Upcoming Marriage

Hulk Hogan’s ex-wife Linda, 50, is engaged to wed Charlie Hill, her 21-year-old boyfriend. Linda met Hill two years ago following her divorce from the wrestling superstar.

It appears that the former married couple have buried the hatchet as the wrestler added his well wishes regarding Linda’s engagement.

“I’m ecstatic for her, I’m very happy for them,” Hogan said in an exclusive statement to RadarOnline.com. “I think they’re perfect for each other. I wish them the best.”

David Houston, Hogan’s attorney, echoed his sentiment, touching on the couple’s contentious split and how they’ve seemed to move on from that dark period: “Obviously, when you go through a divorce, there is a great deal of emotion and you go through your ups and downs. He was married to her for 23 years so there is a certain degree of affection and he does wish her the best.”

Meanwhile, Linda's daughter Brooke, who is one year older than Hill, bares a negative stance towards her mother’s relationship with Charlie.

“He is a loser,” she was quoted last year. “I don’t have a problem with age; it’s more about character. Her love is not real and not right.”

The wedding is set to take place next summer aboard Linda’s yacht named ‘Alimoney’. The article also notes that one of the places they’re registered at is Game Spot.
