WWE Releases 5th Cryptic 1/2/12 Video Entitled ‘Prophetless’

WWE released its fifth consecutive cryptic video suggesting a return on January 2, 2012 tonight on RAW. This week’s video features the same young girl featured in the previous videos pushing a boy’s notebook off his classroom desk. The girl then says, “I cannot help you anymore. Do you understand?” The word featured at the end of the video this week is “prophetless”

As noted over the past few weeks, it’s strongly believed that the vignettes are promoting the return of Chris Jericho, who was last seen on WWE television in September of 2010 when he was written off after he was punted in the head by Randy Orton.

Chris Jericho has been denying the reports on his Twitter feed as of late, but many believe that he may doing so to throw off his followers on the social media website. As of last week, Jericho was in negotiations with WWE are were described as going well. His return, if he comes to negotiations with WWE, is expected to be what is described as “Rock-esque,” as in coming in for a few angles and then possibly leaving again to focus on his band Fozzy.

One possible WrestleMania 28 return match that has been tossed around backstage is a possible match with current WWE Champion CM Punk.

Chris Jericho on The Attitude Era, Punk

Former WWE Champion Chris Jericho spoke with Betweentheropes.com this week. Below are highlights but you can subscribe to Between The Ropes on iTunes at this link.

On whether or not if feels like 12 years since he made his WWE debut on Raw:

"It doesn't really seem like it was 12 years unless I think really hard about all the stuff that's taken place since then. But I can remember writing that promo that I did like it was yesterday in the apartment I was in on the floor, just kind of writing down ideas and writing out the whole promo because back in that time there was no writers or creative as they call it. It was basically you were just on your own. You might have a couple of ideas to throw around but most of it was just coming from your own brain and just saying it the way you wanted to say it. There was no rehearsals or anything like that. You would just go out there and do it. So that's the biggest change between the WWE in 2011 and the WWE of 1999."

On the current PG-13 programming in WWE:

"I don't care about PG-13 or Attitude Era. If you're a great performer, you can make it work no matter what it is. And I never really cared because I might have gone 5% into the Attitude Era or 5% into the overly PG era but I pretty much just did my thing and made it work with whatever was given to me by the boss of the company. That's a copout if people say 'well, I don't like it because it's PG-13 or I can't work within the PG-13 system'. That's BS. It doesn't matter. If you're a good guitar player, you can play Van Halen or Georg Jensen jazz. It's just an excuse."

On simplistic storylines and playing into the current one with CM Punk:

"That's what it's always been about man. It's always been about that and the best guys can do that no matter what rules or guidelines are given to them. That's why the Punk thing worked so good because it was something different. It was Punk vs. the status quo of the WWE. It wasn't so much the insider topics. I'm sure guys like you and me thought that was funny but your average person doesn't have a clue about stuff like that. They just know that Punk is doing something he's not supposed to be doing and saying something he's never said before. That's also why I don't think the thing (Kevin) Nash worked out so well this week because they went too inside."

Jericho's Dancing Career Ends on "Dancing with the Stars"

Chris Jericho is done with "Dancing with the Stars." The WWE star got pinned in last place and didn't get enough votes to go another round.

And though we're sad to see him go, Chris may have offered the best goodbye remarks yet.

"It's actually good timing that I got eliminated because I have to fly over to England for the royal wedding, you know, so it was going to affect rehearsal," he joked with partner Cheryl Burke smiling at his side.

"But actually, let's be honest, it wasn't my best dance and at this point in the competition you have to be at your best every week or this is what happens. But I'd like to say I'm proud of all the dances we did, and I'm proud to show that a WWE guy and a rock 'n' roll singer can go this far and do this."

"The only reason I got this far was because of Cheryl," Chris added. "She's a great performer, she's become a friend for life...I haven't seen my kids in four weeks, so it's time for Chris Jericho the Dancer to step aside and Chris Jericho the Daddy to come back."

Jericho Says He's Coming Back to WWE

Chris Jericho indicated to wrestling fans in a video message that he will be returning to WWE following his run on Dancing with the Stars.

"When I come back to WWE when this show is done, we can continue right where we picked off. You can boo and cheer and yell," Jericho stated.

Jericho is asking that WWE Universe members pay him back for his many years of entertaining audiences and putting his body on the line by continuing to vote for him on Dancing with the Stars. He says the longer he stays on the program, the better it is for the entire WWE Universe.

"I'm taking this universe into places we haven't been," Jericho said. "Twenty-three million people watch Dancing with the Stars every week. The Tonight Show, Rachael Ray, Ellen, all these people are starting to understand what it is that we do as WWE Superstars and why the WWE Universe is so loyal.

"I think it's very important to remember, it's not just me I'm representing. I'm a pioneer, an ambassador for WWE on this show. Continue to vote for me."

Jericho's next performance takes place Monday. He is among the show's final eight contestants.

Jericho Comments On Nexus vs. WWE, Nexus/nWo Comparison, and More

Chris Jericho was one of the special guests on this week’s live edition of Monday Night Mayhem. Here are some highlights from the interview.

Team WWE vs. The Nexus:
“This match is cool, because obviously they created a great angle using guys who have never had matches on TV before basically, which I don’t think has ever been done before, and to have such a talked about storyline. Seven guys who have proved nothing as far as being main-event draws, but it goes to show that when you have a good storyline, a good idea, and promote it the right way. I’m just excited about it, and I’m happy about the storyline leading up to it. I think people are really intrigued by the whole situation, and that’s the best thing you could do, and to me, that’s the most important thing has always been the story. The match is important, but it’s the story that gets you there.”

Wade Barrett:
“There really hasn’t been much growth…he was good from the moment that he appeared. You could see his presence & his promo ability right off the bat was tremendous, his whole look & ambiance, so he was a star right off the bat, and as soon as I was paired up with him, I knew I was with the winner, because he’s got it more than these other guys do. Work wise, we really haven’t seen much from him. Is he a great worker? Is he a good worker? Does he suck? I don’t know, I think he’s a good worker and has room for improvement, and that’s because he doesn’t have a lot of experience in WWE arenas. But he, by far, is the most talented of the group, the biggest star of the group. Whether they created Nexus or not, he would have been a great star in the WWE. The only thing we need to work on with him is his actual matches, because we haven’t gotten to see much, except for a couple of three-minute matches. But other than that, I think he’s the total package of what we are looking for in the WWE at this point.”

Comparing Nexus to nWo:
“There’s only so many ideas you could think of, and there’s only so much talent out there. The bottom line is there’s so many new guys on the shows nowadays, so you have to use that to your advantage, or you have to go back to your old faithful. I don’t see this being the NWO, because the NWO wasn’t like this. The NWO began with three guys that were all World Champions and big huge stars. So you have Hall, Nash, & Hogan who everyone had known & seen before, and that was part of the shock. The Nexus, we don’t know any of these guys or seen any of them before. They have never drawn a dime anywhere, and that’s the difference. This pack that are working as a well-oiled machine that’s done nothing before…that’s the real surprise. As far as what TNA is doing with ECW, why not?

McMahon Upset with Y2J Over Game Show

The fact that Vince McMahon is mad at Chris Jericho for hosting ABC’s new game show Downfall has a lot of people within WWE scratching their heads.

There was a bit of an unspoken agreement when Jericho returned to WWE a few years back that he would be allowed to pursue outside interests. Now that Chris Jericho is doing other things besides Fozzy, Vince isn’t happy with it.

Some people think that Vince is still bitter over top guys like The Rock leaving WWE for other projects.

Details on Why WWE Might Have to Suspend Hurricane Helms

Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

- As noted before, Gregory Helms was found with a single soma pill in his bag when arrested with Chris Jericho. If Helms didn’t have a prescription for the drug like he claimed and even though the police aren’t charging him for it, WWE would be forced to suspend him for 60 days on his second Wellness violation. WWE’s current policy says that every prescription a wrestler has is supposed to be filed ahead of time with Dr. David Black. All prescriptions are supposed to be written by the company doctors who travel with the WWE crew. Helms has a previous violation against him for his name coming up in the Signature Pharmacy scandal in 2007 and has never failed a WWE drug test.

There has been a lot of talk backstage regarding Helms’ future with WWE after the incident. Based on the success of the Royal Rumble pay-per-view which he was pulled from, Helms missed out on a payoff from the show that would have been around $5,000.

It’s said that Helms was apologetic to WWE officials for the incident.
