Stephanie McMahon Talks About RAW's Possible Hosts

In a Business Week interview that likens WWE’s new celebrity guest hosting gimmick to Saturday Night Live, Stephanie McMahon teases other celebrities WWE is hoping to get into the ring.

According to McMahon, potential guests include Freddie Prinze, Jr (the actor and former WWE Creative Team member who would plug the eighth season of “24,” which starts in January), Bob Barker (the famed former “Price is Right” host) and the Reverend Al Sharpton.

Stephanie touted the show’s multiple promotional platforms–more than 5 million viewers each week for RAW, a website that does millions of impressions and the likelihood of garnering mainstream media attention as host–as beneficial for celebrities who wish to guest host RAW as a means of hyping their products.

Regarding the celebrities hosting RAW, USA’s Executive VP of Marketing and Brand Strategy Chris McCumber said this, “They have something to promote, and we have the platform that they need. Raw is like a male soap opera anyway. We’re just adding a little more entertainment.”

Champion Epected to Move Smackdown to RAW

From: PWInsider.com

It is expected for the new WWE Champion Triple H to move to the Raw brand since Smackdown has two champions. He moved to Smackdown to help the show make a smooth transition to the new network, and with MyNetworkTV becoming a rerun network and Raw ratings slipping, a move to Raw will boost the ratings leading up to WrestleMania.

With the recent tease of Stephanie McMahon talking to someone on the phone, Triple H will be revealed as the person she has been talking to. Randy Orton could put Stephanie in danger and Triple H would run out to save her. Vickie Guerrero and Stephanie will meet and agree to swap their champions.

Orton-Shane Feud a Disaster in the Making

As usual, the McMahon family has put themselves first in a storyline, and it's not a good thing. Of course I am talking about the "feud" between Shane McMahon and Randy Orton, and the impending match they will have in a few weeks at the PPV - No Way Out. The build to the feud came to a head on Monday night, as both Shane and Steph were attacked by Legacy, building to Steph getting the Undertaker to come to RAW for a match with Randy next week.

This feud is typical McMahon. Orton is the hottest heel in the ring right now, and they should be building to what could be a hot title match with John Cena at WrestleMania 25 in a few months in Houston. Instead, they are going to have him beat Shane, but at the same time, he will struggle with him, and probably need help from his pals to get it done, which stinks in my eyes.

Instead of that, they should have Orton in a feud with another main event type star, beating that star at the PPV to give him more momentum for the main event at Mania. Why the McMahon's keep forcing themselves into feuds like this really is mind boggling, haven't we seen these types of feuds blow up before?

In the end, this is a bad idea. Yes, the match at the PPV is going to be good - why? Becuase Shane is a major, big time bump machine and with it being a no-DQ match, they will go the limit with weapons and what not. But, when it's all said and done, this is a feud that could totally derail Orton on his way to the biggest match of his career.

Stephanie McMahon's Assistant Gets Axed

Stephanie McMahon’s executive assistant, Mary Blinstrubas, was cut last week. She had been with WWE since November of 2006 and was said to be pretty much incompetent and constantly sending out creative scripts via e-mail to random departments within the company, putting random people in the loop on creative before Vince McMahon even had a chance to review the shows. She would also have humorous slip ups where she would call people by the wrong name and accidentally patch in important phone calls with random extensions on the WWE board during conference calls with Vince. Mary did just about everything for Stephanie including grocery shopping, clothes shopping, relaying messages to her nanny and more. She’s probably not missing that job too much.

Why Prichard Was Canned..

Sources: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

Regarding the recent firing of Bruce Prichard, it was ultimately as a result of a behavioral incident on the road. Stephanie McMahon made the call to let him go, which Vince didn't overrule. Prichard's firing wasn't as a result of cost-cutting deal or a drug issue, although some in creative believe they are better off without Prichard because he was always trying to nix pre-taped segments so he'd have less work to do. A number of people believe he'll be brought back to the company at some point, but with less power and no involvement with creative.

Former WWE Intern Speaks on the McMahon Family

An anonymous person who recently worked inside WWE’s writers room as an intern assistant and got to sit in during a few creative team meetings had some things to saying regarding his experience observing the McMahons at work. The person really put over Stephanie in particular. Here are his comments regarding Stephanie, Vince and Shane:

On Stephanie: “The woman is so passionate and hard working I have no idea how she keeps up. Despite all the pressures of alive production and constantly having to deal with mega egos from her male counterparts, one thing that always stood out about her was that she always remained down to Earth and approachable. In production meetings, numerous writers would pitch ideas. It was her job to decipher what would go to Vince. Vince would have the final say and often make several changes in the end. Not all ideas were great. Some were downright ridiculous. What most impressed me about Stephanie was that if there was something or somebody she truly believed in, she really stuck to her guns. That didn’t always rub people the right way. Seemed everyone always had their own agenda and everyone always seemed to think they knew what was best for the company. Her job is to play the bad cop and decide which direction to go. I truly believe her decisions were based solely on making the WWE a better product within the realm of pleasing family friendly advertising giants as well as wrestling fans always pushing for cutting edge material.”

On Vince: “He, like Stephanie is very passionate and hard working, but unlike Stephanie, he is very neurotic and intense. Not saying this is a bad thing. It’s his company but he does demand respect.”

On Shane: “He never seemed to grasp the big picture from a creative standpoint and always seemed more self-preserving in his ideas and thoughts.”

The intern also described Shane as a “polished ego-stroker” who likes to think of himself as “one of the boys.” The intern said Shane is always pushing ideas for Batista, while Stephanie was always trying to come up with ideas for the younger performers.

Steph Wants More Long Term Storylines

source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

Stephanie McMahon is pushing for the creative team to brainstorm some long-term storylines, instead of doing things on pretty much a month-by-month and oftentimes, a week-by-week basis. However, nobody wants to come up with long-term ideas because Vince changes things every week.

Others in the WWE Share Carlito's Feelings About Triple H?

source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

Regarding Carlito's comments on Triple H's position with World Wrestling Entertainment and his marriage to Stephanie McMahon at a press conference last week, a large percentage of the WWE roster share the same sentiments. However, there is a key difference as they keep their feelings to themselves and say it in private. A number of people have strong feelings over Triple H's position in the company, but it's a subject matter that almost everyone is smart enough to never talk about publicly as it's practically political suicide.

Steph Off the Road Due to Pregnancy

source: www.prowrestling.NET

Stephanie McMahon has been off the road for the past few weeks due to her pregnancy. Stephanie is due to give birth in late July and will likely take a lengthy maternity leave upon the birth of her second child, so she's going be gone for quite a while longer. During her last maternity leave two years ago, Stephanie said she would not be involved in the creative process. Additionally, she had little, if any, communication with the creative team during her time away.

Stephanie Backing Out of WWE Creative Duties?

From: PWPIX.net

Stephanie McMahon-Levesque has become less and less involved in the day-to-day creative team meetings for WWE as she has in the past. ProWrestling.net reports that she now relies more on lead writers Brian Gewirtz and Michael Hayes more than she has in the past.

She is said to be getting more involved in other areas of the company, but is spending more time with her daughter and getting ready for her second child who is on the way.

There is said to be a lot of frustration in creative due to the increased workload. The frustration isn’t necessarily directed at Steph, but the workload is started to get to people.

Mayweather RAW Segements Getting Slammed Backstage

www.f4wonline.com

If you thought the Floyd Mayweather segments on this Monday's Raw were bad, you're not the only one. Head creative team member Stephanie McMahon was said to be very upset with how Floyd Mayweather's speaking segments came off on Raw. Bruce "Brother Love" Prichard was in charge of Mayweather's segments, and Stephanie allegedly chewed him out for doing such a bad job of directing him. Stephanie hasn't been backstage at WWE shows as of late for reasons unknown, but she made her feelings known to Prichard in a telephone conversation with him.
