Honkey Tonk Man Says "No" To the WWE Hall of Fame

WWE Legend The Honky Tonk Man has apparently declined WWE's offer to join the 2010 Hall of Fame. Below is the story from Honky's website:

"HTM declined the WWE offer to be inducted into the HOF class of 2010. There were multiple reasons why HTM decided against this induction. Negotiations started Friday Jan. 22 and carried over till Wed. Jan. 27 at which time HTM informed WWE that he would not be interested in this years induction into their HOF.

One of the main reasons was a conflict in the schedule. HTM is booked for the Wizard World Comic Con in Toronto for the same date WWE wanted. HTM felt he should stand by his Wizard booking since they had put out publicity on his appearance to be there. Also the Wizard booking has been on his books since early December. WWE had more than enough time to get their date locked in with HTM.

Wizard has HTM booked for 7 events this year and WWE had only 1 event for HTM. HTM would have suffered a serious negative cash flow by taking the WWE booking since they want a "no compete" clause over several months after the HOF. HTM would have been handcuffed with no way to provide income for his family during the "no compete' months. The dollar figure from WWE for the one event was less than HTM could make in one weekend at Wizard World. Therefore HTM decided 7 dates with Wizard would mean 10 times the money WWE was offering and Wizard does not have a "no compete" clause.

This is just one of several reasons HTM decided to waive the WWE offer and commit to Wizard. There will be more reasons revealed why HTM made this decision in the coming weeks. There are several, but the TNA deal was not one of them."

Many in the WWE Upset at Koko B. Ware Going Into the HOF

There are a lot of people within WWE who are negative on Koko B. Ware going into the WWE Hall of Fame this year, saying that it made everything less prestigious when the bar is lowered enough that a guy like Koko goes in. Other people point out some of the names that are already in the Hall and say the WWE Hall of Fame is what it is - people that Vince McMahon wants to honor or is convinced that year to honor someone who pushes hard enough.

Sources say there was less talk regarding the Hall of Fame this year than any year in a long time. Koko going in was a pet project of Brian Gewirtz that took a life of it's own. Even though WWE went with somewhat of a Texas theme year, it's said that the Von Erich family wouldn't be going in if it weren't for Michael Hayes. Most people who matter pushed for Ted DiBiase to be inducted this year but the belief is that he will go in at some point. When Howard Finkel was brought up this year, nobody expected it but Vince approved of the idea right out of the blue.

Apparently Sting's name came up this year during Hall of Fame talks and he actually got support from those involved which is funny because some people who were asked for input weren't even aware he was working for TNA. When Sting's career is over, WWE will likely do a DVD on him and find a spot for him in the Hall of Fame but don't look for any of that to happen while he's still working for TNA. Other names brought up this year included Honky Tonk Man, Jake Roberts, John Tenta, Paul Boesch, Bruiser Brod, One Man Gang, Big Bossman, Mil Mascaras, Stan Hansen and Tully Blanchard.

Honkey Tonk Man Says He'll Go After Ric Flair at the HOF

Former WWE Intercontinental Champion The Honky Tonk Man said that he will “Whip Ric Flair's A**” when he confronts him with the WWE Hall of Fame approaching. Honky Tonk Man will be inducting Koko B. Ware into this year’s Hall of Fame and Ric Flair will be inducting Ricky Steamboat.

"For the things he said about me in his book, I will finally get a chance to confront him in Conn. this coming Friday night. If he dodges me, I will confront him on Sunday night in Mass. If he dodges me again, I will confront him at HOF, and if he skates on me there I will catch him at Mania. I want to know why he says I would be nothing without a Hogan rub when I spent 12 years working main events before I went to WWE with out a Hogan rub and Flair knows that." Honky said on his official website, honkytonkman.net.

Hass to Have Played Honkey Tonk Man at Cyber Sunday?

In the days leading up Cyber Sunday, Honky Tonk Man wasn’t originally scheduled to appear at the event. They didn’t call him until the Thursday before the pay-per-view. In an interview with Live Audio Wrestling, Honky Tonk Man said the original plan at Cyber Sunday was for Charlie Haas to come out dressed as him. “They were originally going to have Charlie Haas dress up and go out and do this,” Ferris said. “The rehab came along very well and Thursday they had called and said ‘can you still do the shake, rattle, and roll?’ and I said ‘well of course I can do that’ and that was case closed.”

Ferris is still rehabbing an injury suffered at an autograph signing over the summer when an overzealous publicity person nearly severed his finger when they were horsing around with two guitars. Ferris wasn’t sure if he would be able to make the show as a result, and he didn’t think he would be voted in to the match against Intercontinental Champion Santino Marella. “This voting thing is extremely legitimate. It was a very close race between myself and Piper,” Ferris said. “I went there thinking I wasn’t going to have to do anything either. I’m just making a little cameo appearance, but I ended up being in the ring for about 40-45 seconds and it worked out very well.”

Video of Honkey Tonk Man Almost Losing a Finger

The longest reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion of all-time, Honky Tonk Man, nearly lost a finger in a guitar stunt that went wrong a few days ago. Apparently, he was horsing around with a fan outside the Boston Pizza restaurant, where he made a special appearance earlier in the day. They were going to slam guitars together, but the fan missed hitting HTM's guitar, and accidentally hit his hand instead. Honky Tonk Man ended up almost losing a finger as he had to be rushed to the hospital. He needed eight stitches and was able to save the finger.
