Breaking Down the Draft and Thoughts for Tonights TV

It's going to be very interesting tonight to see how the company deals with the death of Sherri Martel and the ongoing soap opera "death" of Vince McMahon. The internal thoughts this past week even boarder lined on stopping the angle, as the real life death of Martel was going to be ground they did not want to tread on. Look though, for the angle to go ahead without much of a blink, and they will likely open the show with a "In Remembrance" for Martel, and then possibly later in the show have a video package of her. I for one think the company would come off even more tasteless then usual if they tried to brush her death off simply to try and make Vince's "death" seem more real.

Yesterday the company finished up their Supplemental Draft which took place on WWE.com between noon and 4pm Eastern. The company had five wrestlers move to RAW, five to SmackDown, and three to ECW. Why they would only have three move to ECW is beyond me, as that clearly is the brand that needs the most help. Below is the breakdown of what brand got what:

RAW
-------

Got: London and Kendrick, Sandman, Daivari, William Regal, Jillian
Lost: Kenny Dykstra, Victoria, Eugene, Johnny Nitro

SmackDown
-------------------

Got: Kenny Dykstra, Bob Holly, Major Brothers, Victoria, Eugene
Lost: London and Kendrick, Daivari, William Regal, Jillian

ECW
-------

Got: Viscera, Miz, Johnny Nitro
Lost: Sandman, Major Brothers, Bob Holly

In breaking this down, I would have to say that one two picks that surprised me the most was the Major Brothers going to SmackDown, and Johnny Nitro heading to ECW. I think with the Majors heading to SmackDown, the talk of ECW putting in place tag titles is out the window. There was talk awhile ago that they would do that, and that the Major Brothers would be the first ECW Tag Champs. Now that does not look likely to happen. As far as Nitro, the storyline has had him on his own for awhile, but in real life he and Melina are a couple, so we'll see how the company breaking them up as far as shows goes effects them. Right off the bat, I can see him getting some shots at Bobby Lashley for the ECW Title, as Nitro is very solid in ring.

Seeing Sandman on another show should be interesting, and I can see this being the beginning of the end for the former ECW champ. He was a jobber in ECW, and will be even more so on RAW, and once they realize he has little in-ring skills and doesn't fit in, they will finally get rid of him which is what many thought they would do awhile ago. London and Kendrick will for sure become immediate contenders for the tag belts of Cade and Murdoch.

They also have a lot of work this week to rush and try and build interest for Sunday's Vengeance PPV in Houston. The card is an "all title match" card, and while we know the two big title matches for RAW and SmackDown, we have yet to get a contender for Lashley, as well as all the other titles (minus MVP who will face Ric Flair), that will have to be sorted out between tonight and Friday. Once again, this will be a rushed PPV and interest will be very low for the card this weekend.
