Martel's Death May Cause Issues with McMahon Angle

Due to a tragic incident, the WWE is thinking internally about moving along the Vince McMahon "death" angle and things may progress quicker than that want, starting as early as tomorrow night. Reports say that the sad news that came down on Friday of the death of 49-year-old "Sensation" Sherri (Russell) Martel has people within the company thinking that the McMahon death angle is not such a good idea after all. Clearly tomorrow night they are going to have to talk about Sherri, and I am sure they are going to do a highlight package like they do with wrestlers and managers when they pass away.

How they can do that and move along with a storyline about Vince's death, which has been put forth as real on each show this past week, is going to be a tough call. It will come off as tastless and classless, which this angle is from the get-go, if they try to show a highlight package of one of the great characters and women of WWE history in Martel, then in the next scene have yet another silly tribute to the McMahon character, who everyone knows by now is by no means dead.

In theory, Sherri's death may be a blessing for all fans, as it may quicken the ridiclous angle that has been forced down wrestling fans throats for the last week about McMahon. They should have simply focused on the Draft Monday night, and the lesser Draft they are having today on WWE.com that will shift some mid-card wrestlers among brands. Martel was a great manager, great wrestler in her day, and great person. They should honor her in the right way on Monday night, and not allow a sick "death" storyline that is already coming off as classless to get in the way of her memory.

WrestlingRevealed.com reported that the decision on whether or not the storyline continues will be determined prior to the start of Raw on Monday.
