FLASHBACK: One Year Ago today on Let's Talk Wrestling - Sensational Sherri Martel Passes Away at 49

The Following was Posted One Year Ago Today on Let's Talk Wrestling:

A sad day for wrestling fans has come again, as another WWE star of the past has died. Reports say that Sherry Russell, otherwise known as "Sensational" Sherri Martel died at her home on Friday morning. She was 49 years old. Martel was a fireplug as a manager as well as a womens wrestler, and she will forever be remembered as the woman who eneded the last WWE (then WWF) title run of the Fablous Moolah.

More recent fans will remember her for her manager skills, as she managed Randy "Macho Man" Savage back in the stretch where he was trying to get his title back from Hulk Hogan after he lost it to Hogan in WrestleMania V. Then after Savage became the "king" of wrestling, she and he use to come to the ring as King and Queen.

She was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame two years ago in Chicago. I was on hand for that event, and she was a wild woman that night, yelling at fans that tried to step on her speech, and generally having a great time. She had also appeared not that long ago on some commericals for WWE 24/7. She will be missed.
