A Letter From a Reader...

Last evening I got the following letter from a reader. I will leave it up to the readers to decide for themselves how logical this reader is. Enjoy~!

"Mr. Loede,

I read your post about the odds as to who killed Vince McMahon. For someone who knows the WWE, you really have no idea how this storyline is going to work. Why in the world would the assassin be someone who isn't a wrestler? Revealing someone as the killer makes that person so over as a heel, so why would they waste it on a Jonathan Coachman or someone of that kind? When Vince returns to tv, he needs to have a rivalry with the person who tried to take him out. It can't be a general manager or a wrestler who doesn't work for the WWE anymore. And they are going to play up the federal investigation angle a lot, which means that the killer has to make sense from a logical investigative standpoint. I am enclosing a blog I wrote on fannation.com that breaks down the situation and points to one, and only one, suspect.

The WWE is about to present Law & Order: Limousine Explosion Unit. The Vince McMahon death storyline is about to really get underway next week. But who exactly did kill off the Mr. McMahon character? Next week a "federal investigator" will be questioning various wrestlers and WWE personalities about the limo explosion. But how would a real investigator handle a case like this? If we look at the Vince McMahon car bombing as a legal hypothetical, what evidence and precedent exists to make a case against a possible assailant?

Vince McMahon's character was not liked by any of the WWE performers so the list of people to investigate is long, but you have to start somewhere. In a homicide investigation, people of interest always start with those closest to the victim. Vince McMahon had a history of domestic abuse and infidelity so his wife is the first person you look at. Vince McMahon also was worth a great deal of money that his children stood to inherit upon his death. Those are the two oldest reasons to kill somebody: sex and money. His family members are prime suspects in this hypothetical crime. But despite Vince's repeated acts of cruelty towards his wife and children, they always forgave him and got back at him for his abuse in more sophisticated ways. The family also had a lot invested in Vince McMahon as the chairman of the family business, a very successful business. It seems rather unlikely that a family member would assassinate Vince at this time when there is no bad blood among the members of the McMahon family. The only way one of them could have been the perpetrator is if one of them just snapped. And in that case, I doubt that person would be charged with 1st degree murder and would instead be charged with a lesser degree of homicide such as 2nd degree murder or manslaughter.

Vince McMahon also made a great number of enemies as a ruthless business man. He put the old wrestling territory owners out of business when he expanded the WWE initially. He put WCW executive Eric Bischoff and ECW owner Paul Heyman out of business when he bought his competition. Other wrestling promoters could have long standing grudges against Vince that finally boiled over with Vince McMahon's self proclaimed tribute to himself the night he was killed. But what would these individuals have to gain from eliminating Vince now? The WWE empire has already been built, and taking out its chairman will not bring back any of the other wrestling organizations Vince destroyed in building the WWE.

Very few people have ever been successful in thwarting Vince McMahon's reign of terror on WWE programming. But the select few that have have been able to have done it quite well. Vince made life miserable for superstars like Steve Austin, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Hulk Hogan, Undertaker, and more recent stars like Bobby Lashley and John Cena. Retribution for Vince wronging these wrestlers has often been extreme. These types of suspects had personal grievances with Vince McMahon that had nothing to do with business. It is the personal nature of the grievances that can logically see anger snowball into real hatred and blood lust. But still, none of these culprits sound like the individual we're looking for. None of them needed to remove Vince McMahon because they already knew they could beat him at his own game.

No, the person who arranged this had to have been very calculating. Pulling off an attack so masterfully and mysteriously could not have been accomplished without a very elaborate plot. It is unlikely that one person alone could set everything up without being caught or leaving a trail behind that led right to him. The perpetrator probably gave orders to other conspirators as well as pawns and patsies to make the trail of evidence indistinct. The person ultimately responsible for the act is not looking to be caught and is intelligent enough to hide the truth unless he chooses to reveal it. He would seek to capitolize on his own personal gain resulting from Vince McMahon no longer being around. And considering how big and serious of a hit this was, it would not be surprising if the perpetrator is experienced at taking someone out and covering it up. It would also not be surprising if this individual knew Mr. McMahon very well in the past. This is an individual that is capable of anything to advance his own interests.

There's someone in the WWE who fits this description, someone who hasn't been around for a while. And remember, the WWE always likes a star's debut or return to start as big as possible. Don't look for this saga to end soon. There will be no answers as to who killed Vince next Monday. There will only be more questions. Because this character has probably hidden his scheme so cleverly and has the ability to convincingly lie right to someone's face, the federal investigator's questioning will probably end in a lot of suspicion about multiple parties but no concrete answer. The depths of this dark plot won't be revealed for a while, until it has almost been forgotten. Then one night, suddenly, on his own terms, he will reveal himself. The longer the investigation goes without an answer, the more likely it is to have been the result of someone very cerebral.

Interesting analysis of who they think is responsible for the limo explosion/Vince death. I'm trying not to read too much into what they said but using the term "cerebral" makes 1 think of Triple H, the Cerebral Assassin. I don't think he's responsible. To say that the McMahon family doesnt have motives is premature too. Often times we see in movies/TV someone is revealed as a killer and the motive was something nobody even knew to think of..So don't rule out anything or anyone as being a suspect, yet.
